long time, no post

Hi again! Sorry we have been MIA but Ryan and I seemed to have broken our cameras within one week of each other and we have been cameraless, I know, it's horrible! So I will update you with words this time and post pictures later.

Remi is doing great and his personality seems to shine more and more each day. He is saying a ton of words now (provoked only when we say, "Remi say car...His response..."cah") He can say keys, car, truck, phone..he pronounces phone like this ..."pour"...it's close enough. mama, dada, doggie...pretty much one syllable words at this point but it is adorable. he points to everything that fancies him and when he gets angry or frustrated he can throw a tantrum with the best of them. When he gets really frustrated he clenches his fists together, screams, and throws himself face first onto the floor, it's quite a site and sometimes i have to laugh at his effort, other times, I want to join in his tantrum. He tries desperately to climb onto the couch from his little chair and when he makes it to the couch, he runs around on it and then goes head first onto his chair and....it's a mess, he usually ends up in tears but the satisfaction on his face when he reaches the couch is priceless. This is when I decided to put him in a gymboree class. He loves it and gets an hour a week to climb to his heart's content. We are also joining a swim class this week, more for fun than lessons, but we figure he likes the bath so much and the pool time we have had so far.

He is growing like a weed, still tall with big hands and feet...we are giving his old shoes away to his 20 month old friend (my child has huge feet, it's a little weird)...remember my child is only 14 1/2 months old! He also has more hair then I would ever know what to do with. Ryan threatened to give him a mohawk tomorrow...scary! He still only has his lonesome 5 teeth but we can see a bunch more trying to make there way through the gum line...so at this point we should buy stock in motrin. We think he has been going through a growth spurt because there are many wonderful nights where we will put him to bed at 7 pm and he will wake up at 9 or 10 am.....it's magical. All in all I think we got pretty lucky with this one, he is a very happy child who loves to laugh and play hide and seek from daddy and I look at him everyday and just think how perfect and beautiful he is.

One more funny thing...he has found his penis...and he loves it! when we change his diaper he finds it and plays with it and laughs..and then he flicks it and twist it, which makes ryan cringe, but his little face when he finds it...he lights up....I am so not looking forward to his teenage years!

And now for the big news, which you all already know....I'M PREGNANT! yes, I'm sure everyone knows but I am 14 weeks pregnant and starting to feel somewhat normal again, still exhausted but the morning sickness has subsided which is all i asked for. We will find out in 4 weeks if it is a boy or girl ( I'm sure it's a boy) So I will let everyone know. My due date is December 15! I already look pretty big in the belly and so when I rub the belly i say "baby" to remi and he smiles and pats mama's tummy...then tries to steal my belly button. Talk to you all soon!

My Baby is 1!!!!

a little lazy on the post lately but as you all know, Remi turned 1 on March 31st! Almost all the family was in town to celebrate...we missed Bill and the Davis Family but other than a few missing it was a great success! We had a great party for him at the park with friends and family and he got way too spoiled by all the presents! He is looking more like a boy than a baby and growing rapidly! Remi is very active, walking, almost running now, getting a little better at eating and becoming very vocal. He has mastered the tantrum, no doubt from his mother! he has learned to say "doggie" which he says alllll the time, especially when he sees one, he can say "uh oh" while putting both hands on his head, he learned how to throw a ball and screams in excitement! We are trying to teach him sign language and the sign for "more" is sort of like putting your hands together but he does it where it looks like he is clapping, so i guess he knows how to clap now even though he thinks it means "more". He is still in his music class and he absolutely loves it, he bobs his head to beat or bounces to the beat, it is too funny to watch. We finally turned him around in his car seat so now he can face forward and mommy taught him how to feel the beat in the car. When our fun songs are on he raises his hands up and down to the beat, it is hilarious!

He had a great Easter with Family friends and of course wanted to be with the dogs the whole time, just like his father! He went on 2 Easter egg hunts and basically picked up one egg and sat there shaking it for quite some time and then he was over it! Here are some pics! Enjoy!

This month is the month of the birthdays...We have been to a birthday party almost every weekend and have had a blast. Other than that we are hanging out, watching him walk, hanging with daddy and having fun. He has ANOTHER cold...it could be teething since he is getting that third tooth in or it could just be a bad season for colds. I figured out that our son only likes carbs....and i am trying desperately to hide veggies in his food to no avail...he totally knows when i hide them. He loves playing catch with Lola...it is too cute. I will get a video soon and post it. At night while Ryan is making dinner Lola seems to know that it is playtime. She goes and gets a toy and squeaks it and Remi goes and gets it from her and they toss it back and forth. So cute! Also Remi seems to like to brush his tongue back and forth on the sliding glass door...a little weird, but funny to watch. Other than that just preparing for the family to come to town in 2 weeks for the big Birthday! Getting ready for the party and the fun!

Walking, Walking, Walking!!!!

He is actually walking...walking. He can go from the coffee table to the kitchen table (which we all know isn't that far in our tiny "home") but he is doing it! He can take about ten steps now and he is smiling the entire time he is doing it. It probably helps that mommy and daddy are clapping, and screaming with glee the whole time.

Last weekend Remi and I went to see Auntie Ash for the weekend and we had so much fun. We visited Ashley's work, crawled around on her office floor and checked out the place. Ryan met us in LA on Saturday after his week long fire rescue class in SD. We also hung out with cousin Scotty one night and his girlfriend Brooke and her sister. It was a weekend with no plans....just hanging out with family. The most fun and exciting thing Ash and I did was take Remi to the Long Beach Aquarium....It was so much fun. Remi was in awe of all the fish and sharks and sting rays. It was fun to see his face and be able to be a kid again through his eyes. Ash and I really had fun in the gift shop too...needless to say Remi got another toy that he definitely did not need, but it was so cute and he loves his new "mr.T" (mr. turtle)....unfortunately Remi is still going through some separation anxiety so he wasn't on his game most of the weekend, but were working on it. Here are some pics from our fun weekend!

Almost a year

I can't believe that Remi is almost a year old...it's crazy. I look at him and he doesn't even look like a baby anymore, he is so big and tall and I can't cradle him like a baby....it really does go by so quick, too quick! But in saying that he is growing up to be quite a character, with a great personality and wonderful sense of humor. He also has his mommy's temper and the need to do his own thing his own way but he has his daddy's passion for music and his love for animals. So, i think we are doing good so far!

He is getting his second tooth now, on the bottom, right next to the other one, and it looks as if they are both coming in crooked which is fun! He is eating finger foods a lot better now but again, like his mom, only sems to want to eat carbs...he loves his wheat flax waffles, his wheat toast and loves pasta, only if it is drenched in some kind of sauce....won't self feed any fruits or vegetables! Go figure!

As for the more exciting news...HE TOOK HIS FIRST STEPS!!!!!SORT OF....i think. Its hard to say but I guess we can write down as February 12 2009! It was hard to tell at first and there is a story that goes with it! Here goes: Ryan was working the night before and my girlfriend Krista was in town again and so all us girls (Julie, Krista and another new friend Amy) decided to hang out. I decided to spend the night with Remi at Julie's house because we were drinking and I didn't want to drive anywhere. It seems to be that when i am with my girls we get a little crazy. So the next day I was too "tired" to take Remi to his music class. My angry husband had to take him instead to a class full of woman singing, dancing and playing instruments with their kids....I have a wonderful husband. So, i swear, just to rub it in, Ryan comes home and tells me 2 HOURS after the fact that Remi took 3 steps on his own. He waited to tell me because he hadn't decided if he was going to because he knew I would cry. He said he knocked him down after that and waited to show me until he got home.....that'll teach me to drink again! So far Remi has taken 5 steps since then but he knows we are in front of him so he kind of falls after the first 3...we get so excited, we clap, yell, hug, kiss and scream! It is so awesome and I think he will be on the move soon!

first haircut- February 6, 2009

So I am a little late on my updates but I am trying to catch up...a few weeks behind isn't bad! So Remi got his first haircut, and it went something like this.....
Hanging out at the salon, waiting for our turn and he is having a blast, smiling, laughing, watching a little girl get her haircut while another little girl gets her hair dried....Finally it is his turn. we put him in the chair, which is actually a bike with its own steering wheel, and buckle him in. He is playing with the steering wheel, having a great time, the woman puts his leopard print smock on him and busts out the electric shaver......all good so far.....then he wants to know where the hell that noise is coming from and tries to turn around and see and realizes....oh crap, that noise is me....needless to say the water works start and he gets hysterical. We try toys, a lollipop, a pacifier...nothing works, he just wants out of that chair. The haircut literally took 5 minutes but you would think we were trying to kill him (of course my heart was breaking but I tried to maintain). Finally he was done and back to his happy self. When he was finished he looked like a little boy, a toddler, it was so sad and cute at the same time. We saved his hair in a little plastic bag and we got a certificate from the salon stating that he survived the ordeal and it is all in the baby book. Seeing as how it has been 3 weeks since the haircut, it is already growing out but we decided next time to not cut it as short!

Mommy's home

So...I'm back. Idaho was great...My girlfriends and I had a wonderful time and it was nice to just get away and let loose! We went to dinners, got massages, went to bars and just sat around and chatted! My girlfriend Krista has 2 kids and she was ready to party...(we all were) but she is now known as "the tornado". She came in and got us on our A game. We went to a bar and danced until 2 am and we had the best time. We were all in jeans and uggs/snow boots, looked not as good as we could have, but had more fun than has been had in a long time. Needless to say we were pretty useless after that. I admit I missed Remi a lot but I thought it would feel like an extra arm was missing when i was without him...it didn't.

When I got home on Sunday night I went right to bed and woke to a wonderful cold....thanks to Remi. I went into his room monday morning to get him out of his crib and I swear a toddler was in his place. Could he really have grown that much in 4 days?...it was heartbreaking. He also wanted nothing to do with me...he wanted daddy...again my heart broke in little pieces...but at least daddy knew how it felt now and i could actually shower without him trying to get in with me.

We have been hanging out, doing laundry, going to the park and having fun....Today we went to music class and Remi was a bit of a grump. He has had a low grade fever off and on for the past day due to what I think is teething. His little tooth is getting bigger and bigger and I swear it is coming in sideways....great! I have a snaggletooth son! just like his mom!

Now for the big news!!! Remi is going to get his first haircut tomorrow! My baby, my little man, my bubba needs a haircut while his mom is holding on to the last of her hair. Ironic??? I think God has a great sense of humor....but literally Remi looks like he has a tail in the back, his ears are covered in hair and he can't see out of his eyes cuz of all the hair. How did a bald woman give birth to a monkey? She married a monkey! (love you pooh) Of course this is a big deal and we plan to go to a fancy kids hair dresser and take tons of photos....so until tomorrow....!

Screaming down to OC

While Lindsay and her friends were in Idaho for a weekend away, Remington and I had our own adventures. I needed to head down to Orange County for a friends memorial service, so I packed up and headed to the airport with the little man. First off, I should have left about an hour earlier than I did, but we made it through security and straight on the plane as planned. We arrived to our lovely seat on Southwest, one row from the "lav." It smelled awesome. Off to OC on a fully packed 737, window seat and everything is going great. About 15 minutes later, Remington decides he was over this flight and started to scream and toss about. This screaming was by no means a mild one. It was as loud as I had ever heard and kind of hurt my ears as it reflected off the window. I tried all the tricks to comfort him, but failed and only seemed to agitate him even more. So for the next 45 minutes, everyone on the flight enjoyed Remingtons uncontrollable medley of screams. Fortunately, the two guys sitting next to me were really cool about it and a uy in front of us shared his experience of a similar 6 hour excursion he had. When we touched down in OC, Rem immediately was cool with himself and decided to give me a break. I was offered help with my bags by the guys, but mildly suggested a security detail instead. Everyone had a laugh and then seemed to glare at the only guy who was upset by Remington's actions.

So we were off to a great start. My mother was waiting in baggage claim, so I dropped Rem with her and fetched our belongings. A lady on the flight approached my mother and explained to her what we all just went through. She was surprised I didn't freak out during the flight, but what good would that do?

Now that Remington was cool, the weekend continued as planned. We had a nice dinner that night and relaxed as Remington caught up on his sleep. We woke to a beautiful So Cal day and headed out for a morning walk, coffee, the paper and breakfast for the little guy. My parents were so happy to be with the little guy and looking forward to their sitter duties.

I took off that afternoon for the services and Rem was with the grandparents for a fun filled afternoon. They made it down to the park for a ride on the swing and some crawling about. Then to the store to pick up some dinner and a toy as well. They played around the house and had a great time, an easy afternoon for everyone.

I returned in time to give him his bath and read a quick story. Ryan and Shannon dropped in for dinner and were able to see Rem just prior to bedtime. He always enjoys seeing new faces and carefully examined each of them prior to resting into his comfort zone. It's cool when your friends can see a little bit of you in your children. They couldn't visit with Rem long, but at least they got to say hello and goodnight to the little one. The evening was nice, it was good to catch up and everyone rested well.

Off early Sunday to travel home in time for the Superbowl. I was a little nervous about our flight, but I had to do it. As we waited in line, we ran into a couple that was on our flight down. We exchanged some small talk and I told them, "I'll save them a seat." We laughed and parted ways and headed for the pre-board. As we headed out, Remington seemed really excited about where he was at. He was crawling all over me and the empty seats next to us. Looking out the window and looking back at me to insure he wasn't alone, Remington was bouncing up in down enjoying the rumble of the jet engines and the views as we rolled down the runway and up in the air. He kept hitting the window and laughing, staring out as we elevated. Once leveled off, Rem decided to play peek-a-boo with the ladies behind us. This went on for nearly the whole flight and without even a moment of discontent. What a great flight.

We finally arrived home and Remington seemed to be much happier to be in his space. He played till he was exhausted and crashed out for a couple of hours. Up and down quick and off to sleep for the night.

I think Rem likes his little adventures, but also likes the comfort of his home.

packing

So yesterday I took Remi to the doctor to see if he had an infection and/or something more than a cold and......it's just a cold! I swear his cough sounds like it is coming from deep in his lungs and now the poor baby has dry skin from mommy and daddy trying to get his runny snot from getting all over his face and hair. I also asked the doctor why he seems to be vomitting once a night and it seems that since babies can't blow their nose or cough up snot, sometimes the only way to get the mucus out is to throw up (sorry for the gross and detailed description, but this is our everyday blog, so you get it all)...needless to say we having been changing sheets and doing a lot of laundry. Today he doesn't seem to be doing any better...still coughing while we run to catch the snot before it hits the floor and/or Lola...but he still has a smile on his face and is laughing as usual.

It looks like he got the okay from the doctor to fly so Ry is off to the OC tomorrow (most likely) and I am off to Idaho at 9 am. We just remembered we need a place for Lola to stay (oops)...I'm pretty sure my neighbor will do it!

We just put the Remi to bed.....10 minutes later he threw up...we changed the sheet and now he is sleeping. We have a lot to do before tomorrow's flights so...were off for now....write more after my girls weekend and Ry's weekend with his mom and the Remi!

Monday, January 26, 2009

Well, Daddy is home from work today but unfortunately we didn't get to do too much because Remi has a cough/cold. Were not sure if it is teething or an actual cold, but poor little guy has snot literally running down his face. If he doesn't seem to be doing any better by tomorrow then we will take him to the doctor only because he is getting on an airplane on Thursday! That's right.....were off again!

I am going on a girl's weekend to Idaho with friends Krista and Julie from High School....We all leave Thursday and return Sunday night. We plan on watching movies, going to dinners and getting massages. We are all mother's and decided we needed a little adult time! Which leaves Daddy home with Remi, although Daddy always seems to want to go places...for good reason. Unfortunately one of Ryan's friends/mentors/professors from paramedic school passed away last week and the memorial is in Orange County on Jan 31. Therefore Ryan and Remi will fly to orange County for the weekend and stay with Nonni and Grandaddy Tim. We are just hoping that Remi is feeling better and able to fly so Ryan can send his condolences to his friend.

That being said, Remi is napping and mommy and Daddy need to eat lunch while we have a free minute!

Welcome to our everyday!

So we decided to start a blog (a little late, but better late than never) so we can share with our family and friends what our little Remi is up to as gets bigger and bigger....this way we don't have to get in touble for not calling the grandparents enough! Hopefully we can keep everyone updated and post pictures and videos on a regular basis! Now on to bigger news....Remi got his first tooth yesterday, Jan 24th, 2009....It actually broke through the skin! you can barely see it and especially since he won't let you in his mouth to see it, but it is there.....aZqxzaxzzazaaaaa(that little message is from Remi)...he won't let go of the computer! Anyway....I was writing this big moment in his baby book and it asked how he handled teething and to be honest we were not sure! He got a stomach virus 2 weeks ago that lasted about 4 days and then he was just very grumpy and whiny, as if nothing made him happy and he was having major seperation anxiety! We thought he was still sick but it turns out it was his tooth! and now he is as happy as ever, pulling up on things and standing on his own for about 15 seconds before he gets so excited that he falls forward laughing! Now we are trying to teach him to go "feet first" on the bottom set of stairs instead of head first....he'll learn after a few bumps on the head......that's all for now!
